Fairy Meadows lies at 3,300 metres in the Rakhiot valley of Diamer District. It is reached by a 15-kilometre jeep track from Raikot Bridge on the Karakoram Highway to Tato village, followed by a five-kilometre walk through pine forest.

The name is credited to the Austrian climber Hermann Buhl in 1953. The meadow is the gateway to Nanga Parbat's Rakhiot face: grass, wooden cabins and dark conifers in front, and an 8,126-metre mountain filling the sky behind.
